What to write about
- A wrong or outdated number. Name the page and the figure, and the source that differs. The figure is checked against the primary source and corrected with a new check date.
- A data question. How a figure on a utility, state or city page was produced. The methodology page answers most of these.
- Privacy. A request to delete your address from the email list, or a question about the privacy policy. Every list email also has a one-click unsubscribe.
- Press or reuse. Questions about citing or republishing a page; see the terms.
What helps a correction get fixed quickly
- The page address, copied from the browser.
- The figure you think is wrong, as it appears on the page.
- The source that shows a different figure, with a link and the date you read it.
- Whether you are reporting an error or asking a question, so the reply goes to the right place.
The site owner reads every message personally. Corrections that cite a primary source, such as a federal data release, a statute, a PUCT rule or a utility tariff, are the easiest to check.
What the site cannot help with
- Rate & Roof is not an electricity provider or a utility. It cannot see your bill, change your plan or fix an outage. Your provider's contact details are on your bill and on your Electricity Facts Label.
- For a complaint about a retail electric provider or a solar seller, use the Public Utility Commission of Texas or the Texas Attorney General.
- The site does not give individual advice on which plan to pick or whether to buy solar.
